Mice usually invade homes during the fall and winter months, however, some homeowners experience infestations all year long. The extent of the problem usually depends on the given mouse population in your area.
The three mouse species which create the most problems for the home or business owner are: the house mouse, deer mouse, and meadow mouse or vole. When mice have found their way into a structure, the house mouse is usually the main culprit . For long-term control the structure must be “mouse-proofed”; this is the procedure of sealing up every little crack, crevice or hole that the rodent can gain entry through. Mouse-proofing is easier said than done, because mice can enter through areas as small as 1/4 inch. The homeowner should concentrate on obvious areas like door jams, crevices in foundations, and structural defects.
