Sugar & Grease Ants

The names grease, or sugar ants, actually describes a number of different species of small ants that often invade the kitchen and feed on proteins or sugars (or both).

In this neck of the woods, there are many species of ants that on occasion will invade the home. looking for food or water. The species most often encountered are; pavement ants, thief ants, cornfield ants, and carpenter ants. With the exception of carpenter ants, all of these species tend to live outside, and only enter the home to forage for food.

Treatment for the common ants listed here should be aimed at where the ants are coming from, which is outside. However the homeowner should devote considerable attention to eliminating the food and water supplies available to the ants.
